On January 27th, 2026, Cape exited our beta and launched several new features and updates. This article walks through changes made to our iOS service, as well as instructions for how to access new features. For Android instructions, see here.
New iOS Features and Updates:
- Identifier Rotation: Now available on iPhone XS and later, including iPhone 16 and 17.
- [Coming Soon] Last-Mile Encrypted Texting: Available for iPhone users only as an Experimental Feature.
- Secondary Numbers: Available as an Experimental Feature.
- Secure Global Roaming: Previously only available to Android devices; Now available for iPhone.
How to access Cape’s new features on iPhone:
To access Cape’s new features for iPhone (Identifier Rotation for iPhone 16/17, Secondary Numbers, Last-Mile Encrypted Texting, Secure Global Roaming):
- Ensure you are on the latest version of the Cape app
- You’ll be able to set up each available feature in the app.
- Go to Account → Features to access Identifier Rotation and Secure Global Roaming. Within Features, go to Experimental Features to access Secondary Numbers and Last-Mile Encrypted Texting.
- If you enable Identifier Rotation or Secure Global Roaming, you will be prompted to upgrade your Cape SIM. You only need to upgrade your SIM when prompted in the app.
Identifier Rotation
Cape released Identifier Rotation as an Experimental Feature in December 2025 for iPhone devices, except for iPhone 16/17. Identifier Rotation is now available on all iPhone devices compatible with Cape, including iPhone 16/17. To access ID rotation:
- Ensure you are on the latest version of the Cape App.
- In the Cape app, go to Account → Features. Select "Identifier Rotation" and toggle it on.
- You may be prompted to upgrade your eSIM with ID rotation capability.
- After your upgraded eSIM is activated, go back to the app. You’ll see Identifier Rotation on your Home screen. Click into it, and toggle Identifier Rotation ON.

Secure Global Roaming
Previously, Cape only had international roaming available on Android devices. International roaming is now available on all iPhone devices compatible with Cape. To enable Secure Global Roaming:
- Ensure you are on the latest version of the Cape App.
- In the Cape app, go to Account → Features. Select "Secure Global Roaming".

You may be prompted to upgrade your Cape SIM. If you are not prompted to upgrade your SIM, Secure Global Roaming is already enabled.
Note: Secure Global Roaming is built into your Cape SIM—it is not a separate, dedicated travel SIM. You will use the same SIM whether you are domestic or traveling internationally. - You are now ready to travel internationally. In the same Secure Global Roaming tab in the app, you’ll find instructions for how to configure your SIM once you arrive at your international destination. Secondary Numbers
- Ensure you are on the latest version of the Cape App.
- In the Cape app, go to Account → Experimental Features.
- Select "Secondary Numbers" and follow the opt-in instructions.
