If your incoming calls are going straight to voicemail without ringing, it's usually caused by a setting on your iPhone that silences or redirects calls. Work through the steps below in order, and test with an incoming call after each one.
- Turn off Do Not Disturb and other Focus modes.
Open Control Center and check that no Focus mode (the crescent-moon icon) is switched on. You can also go to Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb to make sure it's off. While you're there, check that no other Focus mode — such as Sleep, Work, or Personal — is turned on and silencing your calls.
- Turn off Lockdown Mode.
Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Lockdown Mode and make sure it's turned off. Lockdown Mode can block incoming FaceTime calls and invitations from people you haven't contacted before, so it's worth ruling out.
- Turn off Silence Unknown Callers.
Go to Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers and switch it off. When this is on, any number that isn't saved in your contacts is sent straight to voicemail without ringing. (On newer versions of iOS you may find this under Settings > Apps > Phone.)
Try making a test call after each change to see if it fixes the problem. If your calls are still going straight to voicemail after checking all three settings, please reach out to our support team and we'll help you troubleshoot further.
