If you've started bringing an existing number to Cape using Bring a number to Cape → Port in an existing number, you can cancel that transfer yourself from the app while it's still in progress. This article walks through how.
Before you start
- You can cancel a transfer while it still shows a Pending status (for example, "Pending previous carrier approval").
- Your temporary Cape number keeps working the whole time, so you won't lose service.
- Cancelling stops the port-in — the number stays with your current carrier.
Step 1 — Open My Numbers and select the pending transfer
Go to My Numbers. Under Active transfers, tap the number that shows a Pending status.
Step 2 — Tap Manage order
On the Transfer Request screen, tap Manage order at the bottom.
Step 3 — Cancel the transfer request
In the Manage Order panel, tap Cancel transfer request (shown in red) at the bottom.
Step 4 — Confirm the cancellation
The status updates to Cancelling, and a "Transfer request cancelled" message appears. The transfer is now stopped.
After you cancel
- The port-in is stopped and the number remains with your current carrier.
- Your temporary Cape number stays active.
- Cancellations can take up to a week to fully process. You'll need to wait for the order to finish cancelling before you can re-port the same number into Cape.
- Once the cancellation has cleared, you can try again from My Numbers → Bring a number to Cape.
