In the Features menu, you can now access a new feature called Preferred Network. With it, you can connect to Cape via towers operated by 2 of the 3 largest MNOs from a single eSIM. We're not contractually allowed to name them, so we refer to them as Cape Alpha and Cape Tango.
What is Preferred Network?
Preferred Network lets you tell Cape which of our two underlying networks you'd rather use. Once you set a preference, Cape connects you to that network automatically whenever it has coverage. If your preferred network isn't available, Cape connects you to the other network so you stay online — then switches you back automatically once your preferred network is in range again.
You're setting a preference, not switching networks manually each time. Cape handles connecting and falling back in the background, and you keep a single number and a single eSIM across both networks.
Why use Preferred Network?
Privacy. Spreading your traffic across two networks makes you harder to track over time — even for someone with network-level access. It pairs especially well with Identifier (IMSI) Rotation, which changes the identifier your device presents to the network.
Coverage. If your preferred network drops, Cape automatically tries the other one, so you stay connected more of the time.
Preferred Network is included for every Cape subscriber at no extra cost.
How does Preferred Network work?
Cape runs its own mobile core across two nationwide networks, Cape Alpha and Cape Tango. When you choose a preference, Cape keeps you on that network whenever it has coverage. If you move out of range, Cape automatically connects you to the other network to keep you online, then returns you to your preferred network once it's available again — all on a single eSIM, with the same phone number, and no eSIM swaps.
How to set your Preferred Network

Step 1 — Open Preferred Network. In the Cape app, go to Account → Features and tap Preferred Network.
Step 2 — Choose your preferred network. Select either Cape Alpha or Cape Tango. Cape connects to it automatically whenever it has coverage, and falls back to the other network when it doesn't.
