Cape supports GrapheneOS. In order to activate Cape service on a GrapheneOS device, there are several settings you need to enable.
Steps to Complete Before Downloading the Cape App and Activating Service
Enable eSIM Management
-
Go to Settings → Network & Internet → eSIM Support.
-
Toggle on eSIM Support. This setting persists across device restarts. This may require you to restart your device.
-
By enabling this toggle, proprietary Google functionality for provisioning and managing eSIMs is activated.
Note: If the eSIM installation process stalls despite a stable internet connection:
-
Dial
*#*#4636#*#*
in the phone app to access the testing menu. -
Select Phone Information → Check Enable DSDS.
Getting the Cape App on your GrapheneOS Device
Enable Sandboxed Google Play Services and Download the Play Store
-
Go to App Store → Search for Google Play Services → Tap Install.
-
Installing Google Play Services will also install the sandboxed Google Play Store. This will also automatically install additional dependencies such as GMSCompatConfig.
Enable Notifications for Google Play Services
-
Go to Settings → Apps → Google Play Services → Notifications.
-
Toggle on All Notifications to ensure proper functionality. If you do not enable notifications, you may not be able to interact with a prompt that gives permission to the device to download an eSIM.
Alternatively, Cape is available in the Aurora App Store
-
Download and install the Aurora App store on your device
- Search the Aurora App store for Cape and download the Cape App
Please note: We do not officially support the Aurora Store and are unable to provide support if you have issues downloading from Aurora. Our app listing in the Aurora store is a clone of our official Google Play listing.
You can now download the Cape app from the Play Store or the Aurora Store and activate your Cape service.
