To use Cape’s service, your device must be eSIM-compatible. Follow the steps below to check your device's compatibility, or visit our blog post for more details.
Checking eSIM Compatibility on Android
eSIM support varies by Android device. Visit our blog post for a list of eSIM compatible Android devices, or check online if your model supports eSIM.
Steps to Verify on Your Device
- Open Settings → Network/Internet/Connections (or a similarly labeled section)
- Navigate to SIM/SIM Manager (or a similarly labeled section).
- Look for an option to add an eSIM or download a SIM. If available, your phone is likely eSIM compatible.
- You can also try dialing *#06# within your Phone app. If you see an EID number displayed (e.g., EID, EID1, EID2), your device likely supports eSIM. Physical SIM devices will not have an EID number, so if there is no number displayed, your phone is not eSIM compatible.
If you are still unsure, please reach out to your device manufacturer support to confirm compatibility.
Checking eSIM Compatibility on iPhone
The following iPhone models are eSIM compatible:
- iPhone SE 2nd (2020) and 3rd generation (2022)
- iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR
- iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 series
Important: Some countries or regions may release models without eSIM capability. eSIM on iPhone is not offered in China mainland. In Hong Kong and Macao, some iPhone models feature eSIM.
To Confirm Compatibility:
- Go to Settings → General → About → Model Number.
- Tap the Model Number until it changes to the “AXXXX” format.
- Confirm that your Model Number does not match any of the “China mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao” Model Numbers listed here.
You can also check for eSIM compatibility in the Settings app.
Go to Settings → General → About. If your iPhone shows an EID number, it is eSIM compatible.
