Before using Cape, please ensure your iPhone is unlocked.
How to check if your iPhone is Unlocked
-
On your iPhone, go to Settings ➝ General ➝ About ➝ Carrier Lock.
-
If the Carrier Lock section says “No SIM restrictions”, your iPhone is unlocked.
-
If you purchased your iPhone directly from Apple, it is most likely unlocked.
-
If you owe money to your carrier for your iPhone, it is most likely not unlocked.
If you are unsure if your new iPhone is unlocked, please contact Apple or your primary carrier.
Please ensure you have access to wifi in order to activate your service.
Activation Through the Cape App
To use Cape, you must activate through the Cape app. The app allows you to:
-
Pay for a Cape subscription
-
Activate your service by downloading an eSIM
-
Manage your billing
Why Use the Cape App?
Cape requires app-based activation to prioritize your security. Unlike other carriers that allow purchases and account access through websites, which can expose your data to tracking and compromises, Cape limits activation to the app. This protects you from SIM swaps and other attacks, ensuring no one can hack your number without physical access to your phone.
Note: We do not currently support eSIM Quick Transfer
Due to this restriction, you cannot activate Cape service during iPhone setup. You must download the Cape app after completing the setup process.
Steps to Activate Cape After iPhone Setup

-
Connect to a WiFi network when prompted.
-
When you reach the Set Up Cellular screen, tap “Set Up Later in Settings.”
-
Once you've successfully completed the setup, open the App Store and download the Cape app to begin the Cape activation process.
If you have trouble with activation, please reach out to support through the Help Center or the Cape App.
